The band's union occurred in the end of September 2004 after more than two years on standby, because all the members came from a previous interrupted project. Formed by four members (Nogueira - drums, Lamas - bass, Chico - guitar and Diogo - vocals), Encephalon's return is determined by the will to make music, (mainly physical music) aiming headbangers. Under the influence of many musical genres in the metal world, Encephalon found a variable and very own music style that dwells in the progressive death/grind scene. The name Encephalon came after two months of existence and it was chosen by its meaning "in the brain", which describes all the philosophy and pretensions of the band, that is making a neurologic grind adventure based on our brain, cortex, cerebrospinal fluids, cranial diseases, encephalopatys, cranium blood meals and others cute things that happens in our fucking head. In a growing stage, the band wants to spread its name and sound, leaving its future in the hands of the ones that listen to them! Welcome to Encephalon!Long life to the Neurologic Grind!

September of 2006 - Encephalon recorded the first demo-cd, "Neuropathology".
